Day 42/365 - February 11

Well, Avery is officially sick. She woke up with a fever, cough, and horrible nose (oh - and she got up several times during the night unable to breathe).

I had to go back to Birmingham today so Wes decided to take Avery to her appointment. I met them there once I got back in town so that Wes could go back to work. After a flu test and strep test, it turned out that she just has a sinus infection and the crud. They sent us out with a prescription for an antibiotic and a cough syrup/decongestant combo. Luckily, Avery can swallow pills now so the antibiotic is sooo much easier!

Well, now they are predicting 3-5 inches of snow for us tomorrow!!! Avery's school announced that they are closing (which means a postponed Valentine's party) and the State offices finally announced they were closing too. Yippee - a weather day!! AND - it actually looks like we will GET some snow this time!!!

OK, my photo for today is back to my Valentine's Day "plan"
I found these yummy looking caramel Hershey Kisses at Target the other day and thought they made a pretty cute heart :) The wrapper is a pink animal print - sooo cute!!!

Day 41/365 - February 10

The chance for snow is getting better for Friday - they are predicting 1-2 inches of accumulation for us which is so exciting. We occasionally get icy slush, but very rarely do we get any accumulation. We'll keep our fingers crossed and Avery will continue to pray!

While warming up some chili for dinner tonight, I dropped the entire HUGE Rubbermaid bowl on the kitchen floor.
Can you say BIG MESS?!?!? Luckily, a small amount didn't spill from the bowl and there was still enough to warm up for Avery's dinner. I was even more fortunate that the dogs were outside when I made this mess. Can you imagine  what would have followed if they had lapped that up?!? Even a bigger mess for me to clean up later!

We all went to church together tonight. Wes and I started our Small Group which has already been meeting for a few weeks and is into their study on angels. We really enjoyed meeting some new people at church and the study seems very interesting. I think we are really going to like it. Of course, Avery had a great time at her mission group too.

After getting home from church, I surprised Avery with a new pair of PJ's just for Valentine's Day. The pants are a little bit too long, but they'll do just fine.
On a side note, Avery has been coming down with a yucky cold and I think it's finally gotten the best of her :(

Day 40/365 - February 9

Guess what?!? They are predicting snow for us by the end of the week!!! Will we actually get any? Who knows, but it's still exciting!!

Avery finally finished up the Valentine cards she's been working on for her class. She has spent so much time over the past week and a half putting these together and is so proud of her work! I know she will be ready to take them to her class party on Friday for all of her friends.
I snapped this cute photo of Wes and Avery playing around tonight.
He picked her up over his shoulder and she started hitting him on the rear end saying, "I'm getting your buns, I'm spanking your buns." I'm sure you totally had to hear it, but it was hilarious and completely cracked us all up!!

Day 39/365 - February 8

Back to the daily grind of work which for me meant heading to Birmingham for the day. Luckily I got back in town at my regular time and was able to pick up Avery from school and get home and into our routine as usual. Let me tell ya, that made for a great night!

If you recall, I was planning to do a Valentine theme for the week. But as many of you know, real life throws obstacles in your way sometimes. That was the case tonight when I discovered this:
in the washing machine. I had to wash one of Avery's jackets that she got dirty over the weekend which obviously had a pack of gum in the pocket. Can you say yuck?!?

In keeping with my plans, here is my "scheduled" photo for today:
...some delish Valentine M&M's - yummy!!!!

Looks like I may have two pics for today :)

Day 38/365 - February 7

Woo hoo - I feel like myself today!!! Nothing like waking up and feeling good - still coughing - but I feel good!

Although Sydney didn't spend the night last night, she called first thing this morning (at 7:15) to apologize to Avery again. While she was on the phone, I told Avery to go ahead and invite Sydney to still come to church with us. Sydney wanted to come with us since she hadn't been to our new church yet so her mom brought her over around 8:00 in time for us to be there for our 8:30 Sunday School class.

They both had a great time at church and hopefully Sydney will want to come back again. Maybe we can even convince her parents to come along with us too.

After church, we met Wes's dad (his mom wasn't feeling well and didn't make it to church) for lunch at Wing's - one of our favorite places. Aside from not seeing the Goldens at church, not going to lunch with them afterwards is one of the hardest things about being at a different church. Anyway, the food was yummy and the company was even better. Sydney came back over to play for a few hours after lunch before I took her home.

I had a few errands to run again today and arrived back home just in time to get a big pot of chili finished up just in time for The Super Bowl kick off! My prediction was for the Colts to win and of course Wes expected the Saints to win. I can admit that I was wrong and he was right - you  better make a note of that, because it doesn't happen too often :) On a happier note, I made a homemade peach cobbler to finish off the evening and it sure was delish served hot with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top!

Oh, and how could I not mention the commercials?!? I think my FAVE commercials of the night had to be from Doritos. Especially the one with the dog and the anti-bark collar which made me totally laugh so freakin' loud!

OK, back to P365. This week, I'm gonna try and do a theme since it's Valentine's week :) Today's photo is of the mailbox that Avery made last weekend.
It sits on our kitchen counter and Avery leaves surprises in it for us on occasion. However, the main purpose of the mailbox is for us to leave surprises for Avery :) She checks to see if the flag is up every single time she walks by and is completely disappointed when it's not - pretty funny!

Day 37/365 - February 6

Ah, Saturday....Avery spent the night with her grandparents....I slept in until 9:00....can you say wonderful?!? Still not quite 100% well, but feeling a little better than yesterday. Maybe tomorrow...

It did me so much good to have a night out with Wes and time with my friends last night - it's amazing how much you miss that and how much it can re-energize your spirit!

After Wes woke me up this morning, we worked around the house and just cleaned up for a while. In the midst of cleaning up, I came across these in the dining room:
Yep, these would be the dead poinsettias left over from Christmas. Do you notice a trend? Things in the dining room tend to go unnoticed? Woops. I have meant to throw them out for a few weeks, but keep walking by saying I'll do it later. Well, later has finally arrived and I have no doubt that Wes is very excited!! It's stuff like this that drives him INSANE!

Anywho, back to our day :) Avery's friend Sydney called and invited her to come over and play so Wes picked her up from his parent's house and took her to Sydney's to play. I had a few errands to run and actually went by to pick up Avery and Sydney to come back and spend the night with us. The night didn't quite go as planned though. Sydney ended up missing her parents (her dad is out of town pretty much all week long every week) and went home around 8:30. This has happened once before with Sydney and it completely devastates Avery - she gets so upset and just cries. It totally breaks my heart for her :(

Day 36/365 - February 5

Ah, the miracle of a steriod shot! I woke up feeling 100% better, showered, and got ready for work. That's when the coughing started and the yucky feeling came back. However, I figured since I was up and ready , I might as well go to work. I manged to stick it out all day too!

It probably helped that I had something to look forward to tonight. We made the decision back at Christmas to try and get together with a group of our friends every few months for dinner. Tonight was the night and I wasn't going to miss it!

Avery was very excited to go spend the night with her NaNa and PaPa. I don't know that she was too gung ho about going to Jalapenos again (for her third trip this week), but I told her there were several different things she could get that we didn't have on our previous two visits. I think she also managed to convince her NaNa to take her to PetLand - have I mentioned she likes that place?!?

OK, back to our night out!! We met up with the Robbie and Beth, Jason and Tracy, Richard and Rachel, and Jeff and Beth at The Brew Pub. We hadn't been there in a LONG time and luckily it wasn't too crowded due to the two new restaurants that recently opened downtown. All the girls sat at one end of the table and the guys were at the other end and we had a wonderful time gabbing and just catching up with each other. The guys were definitely ready to leave before we were and had to pry us out the door!
We stopped right outside to grab a quick photo of the girls together. Those specks you see? That would be rain....
