It's Wednesday which means church night for all of us. However, our Small Group was canceled tonight. You can rest assured that didn't mean a thing to Avery though! Her group was still meeting which meant she was planning to go :)
Wes was kind enough to admit that it was finally his "turn" to take her and I happily agreed that yes it was! Actually, picking up is a bigger deal to me so I said I would drop her off before heading to the grocery store as long as he picked her up when it was over.
I couldn't get over how empty the grocery store was on a Wednesday night. Obviously I don't normally shop on this day of the week, but wow! My photo should have been the crazy new arrangement of the aisles at my local Winn Dixie, but I didn't think about it until afterwards. I'll save that one for another day.
Today, you get to see the massive amount of pollen that has accumulated on my car.
Not the best of pictures, but it's all I could do with my little point and shoot. Just for added measure, here's a shot of the back bumper.
Notice how the top is a dingy gray color? See the black curved piece? It all should be that color! The dingy-ness is actually yellow pollen!!
We are suppose to get rain tomorrow - actually 90% chance now. You would think we have been through a drought. Everyone is SO excited about the rain coming. It's just that this blasted pollen makes everyone sick and the rain does a great job of getting rid of it.
Come on rain!!!
As wonderful as that win was last night, it sure was like pulling teeth to get Avery out of bed this morning!
Avery had play practice this afternoon. I also found the paperwork I was suppose to have last week (that she forgot to give me), so I completed it and turned it in along with the $65 fee. She really is having a great time so far. Some of the songs they are singing - Stayin' Alive, 9 to 5, Magic and there are a few others that have slipped my mind. It sure does help that she likes the music!!
When we got home from school, Avery asked to have some of her chocolate bunny. With her reflux, she has to be super careful about her chocolate consumption which really does stink for a kid.
I told her that I was really suprised at how well she was doing with eating it slowly and that I expected to walk in and find it completely gone one day. She told me that if she didn't have reflux it would be, but she knew it would make her sick :( Poor baby, at least she is getting old enough to understand it.
We jumped right into her homework. On play practice days, she doesn't go to extended day so there is no homework time at school - we get it all when we get home at 4:45.
When Wes got home from work, we decided to ride over to the AUM fields and watch several of Avery's friends play against one of the AUM teams tonight. They ended up loosing the game, but it sure was close.
Did I mention that softball kinda consumes our life in the spring??
Wow, let me tell ya...8 hours of sleep SURE did do this girl some good last night!
We had a rushed afternoon/evening with Avery's 6:00 softball game. It's a good thing I get off work at 3:30! Otherwise, I really don't know how we would ever manage to get everything accomplished. We hurried home after school to finish up homework and studying, grabbed a quick and light dinner, and got everyone changed into their uniforms.
Wes likes to have time for everyone to warm up and get in a quick round of batting practice before each game. That's a little easier said than done on weeknight games, but it went pretty good tonight.
I'm beyond excited to say that we WON tonight with a score of 22-3!! This was the game against our rival coaches and it felt so good for the girls to play so well. The other team came out and their first four or five batters attempted to bunt the first two pitches. I say attempted because they all fouled out. I really think it was an attempt to intimidate our pitcher, but it didn't work! It didn't even phase her one single bit, she just kept right on going - amazing!
Right after the game was over, Avery ran right up to Wes and jumped into his arms. It was the absolute most precious thing I have seen in a long time. Well, actually I didn't SEE it happen. I was too busy talking and finishing up the game book. But I did see the end of it and get a play by play of it happening :)

Ah, did I mention how awesome this win was tonight?!? Yep, it was THAT big to all of us!

What a beautiful Easter Sunday. I am so blessed that the Lord sent His only son to die on the cross for MY sins. Just the thought brings tears to my eyes because it is something that I can not even imagine.
Today, we changed the cloth on our Easter cross to white which represents Christ's resurrection. What a beautiful sight!!
We have talked alot about the true meaning of Easter with Avery and she really seems to understand it (as much as an 8 year old can). However, she is a kid and still gets excited about the Easter Bunny :)
Still, imagine our surprise when she popped into our room (bright eyed and bushy tailed) at 5:00 this morning - yep, WIDE awake - not "just woken up." Wes kindly sent her back to her room until 6:00. She didn't go to sleep, but was allowed to watch TV. Needless to say, she was back in our room at 6:00 on the dot. {sigh}
Of course, she had good reason to be excited. Take a look at this overflowing basket full of goodies!!
Don't ask about the weird face - she's at "that" age :) After snapping a few pictures of the individual items as she was taking them out, Avery kindly informed me that this was why she wanted the camcorder (ha ha). Our Easter Bunny likes to bring items that Avery needs like flip flops, bathing suits, spring clothes, books, and a little bit of candy thrown in too.
The question of the morning - how can we (and by we, I mean Avery and me) not be ready to leave at 9:30 after getting up so early??? We didn't leave until 10:00 which got us to the church in Opelika by the skin of our teeth (literally). It would be a slight understatement to say that Wes was a little irritated! Oh, did I mention that we didn't even take a single picture before leaving?!?
The service at First Baptist Opelika was wonderful - a traditional service, but full of amazing hymns and a perfect message. Bowman did great during his dedication too.
We headed over to the campus (Auburn University) to snap a few photos before going to Brian and Mollie's house. Luckily a nice family offered to take a group shot of us!
We had a wonderful lunch at Brian and Mollie's and the kids were chomping at the bit to get out and hunt eggs.
They had so much fun and Avery was determined she wasn't stopping for a picture either (as seen below). And take a look at the mambo jambo egg Avery managed to find, he he!
We were all pretty wiped out when we finally headed home around 3:00 and Avery even fell asleep in the backseet. It was an early bedtime for everyone - Avery was in bed asleep by 7:30 and Wes and I were asleep by 9:00 - WOW!!
We have our first softball game tomorrow night and it's against our biggest rival (well, rival coaches anyway)! We are always scheduled to play them the first game of the season (3rd year in a row) and they beat us every single time. Will this year be the turning point???
A full Saturday ahead of us today! Managed to get about half of the house cleaned before starting my shopping adventure with Avery. We needed to pick up baby dedication gifts for Bowman for tomorrow (one from us and one from the Goldens). It also hit me yesterday that Avery didn't have any Sunday shoes for Easter yet - woops! Let me tell ya, if it hadn't been for my sweet MIL, Avery probably wouldn't have a dress yet either!
Before we left home this morning, Avery decided to dress Princess in a t-shirt from one of her stuffed animals. Oh and yes, it says Puppy Love :)
You can't really tell from the photos, but she was NOT happy. She wouldn't even fully stand up - she just crouched around all over the place and rubbed against things trying to pull it off. I finally ended her suffering and took it off while Avery was outside playing.
After finally deciding on gifts for Bowman, we head over to the Goldens to drop their gift and card off. Avery decided she wanted to stay there and not go shopping. Fine by me. Of course, that means I'll be buying shoes for Avery without her there. Still OK with me because I needed to do some other shopping too. I finish up and head back over to pick Avery up around 5:00 with three pairs of shoes for her to pick from. I needed options in case they didn't fit!
While I was out shopping, I noticed that Justice was having their 40% sale PLUS you earned J-Bucks (free $ off future purchases - $25 off $50 and $15 off $40). Avery certainly needed some summer clothes and that's the only time I shop at Justice so we stopped by there on the way home. $200 later, Avery had some SUPER cute clothes and I had some J-Bucks to spend in the coming weeks and months - woo hoo!!
After getting home at 7:00 and eating dinner, I still needed to run and pick up the cake for Bowman's dedication tomorrow. So, off I headed to Publix when my phone rings. Wes kindly asks if I am still planning to color Easter eggs tonight. Oh crap! was my response - it was 8:00 at night, but we pulled everything out and started coloring eggs.
We all three had a great time, but I'm not sold on the neon coloring kit. Next year I think we'll stick with the good ole regular one. It took those suckers FOREVER to color. I finally left the last batch of eggs in there for over 30 minutes!
I do think they turned out pretty nice though. Avery was happy with them and that's all that matters to me :)
It was a super late night though. Avery got up with an upset stomach - thought she was going to be sick, but thankfully it was just a false alarm. Still, it was 12:30 by the time I got in bed. That silly Easter Bunny....
I mentioned earlier in the week about our Easter cross and the symbolic meaning of the purple cloth. Today is Good Friday which is the day Jesus actually died on the cross. Therefore, we change the cloth to black to symbolize His death for our sins.
Although many other things went on today (softball practice, Easter prep, etc), none is important when compared to the sacrifices the Lord made when He sent His son to walk the earth among us. He was ridiculed, mocked, beatened, and crucified so that we can have everlasting life with His Father in Heaven.
Today was Avery's first rehearsal for Footloose after school. There was a parent's meeting scheduled for 4:30 when the practice wrapped up. When I arrived for the meeting, I noticed ALL the other parents filling out these forms. So, I ask a friend about it and she tells me that it's the form that came home yesterday. Did Avery give me a form yesterday? Nope. Hmmm. Of course, in addition to the completed form, they also wanted you to turn in your $65 fee today. Oh well, maybe Avery just didn't give me the form. See, I have taken the approach that she's old enough and should be responsible to tell me information and give me things as needed.
Tonight marked the "official" start of softball as well - Opening Ceremonies. All of our uniforms came in today so I rushed home to get everything sorted in order to be distributed before hand. Luckily Wes helped out!
